I drink a lot of North Park Beer Company clear beer. And they stay consistently releasing great beer after great beer.
But this beer was bringing something different to the table.
I recently had the pleasure of trying the Homes Home, a collaboration between North Park and HOMES Brewery.
Clocking in at 7.5% ABV, this beer was a delightful surprise that deviates from the usual ultra fruity and juicy yet bitter dry new school WCIPAs.
What sets this beer apart is its unique hop selection.
Homes Home Hop Billing
The ‘Home’ part of this brew comes from Homes Brewery location in Ann Arbor with the brewers incorporating Michigan-grown Mackinac, Copper, Cashmere, Cascade, and Chinook hops.
This combination lends the beer an intriguing blend of old school flavor profiles.
On the nose and palate, I got a strong presence of herbal, floral, and piney notes, along with a spicy pepper undertone.
The fruitiness of papaya and melon mingled with citrus flavors, while a hint of herbal tea, perhaps even some hibiscus notes, added to the complexity.
It was an incredibly interesting and pleasing experience.
Homes Home reminds me of another West Coast IPA North Park did in collaboration with Horus Ales.
Both beers share a hop profile that leans heavily into old school flavor without the inclusion of a darker malt profile.
Bring on the Bitterness
Another standout characteristic of this beer is its dry and bitter nature.
It boasts a heavier body than your average IPA, which personally, I thoroughly enjoyed.
It’s a beer that embraces the boldness of the style and proudly flaunts its IBUs. #BringOnTheIBUs indeed!
Homes Home shines in terms of cleanliness, aroma, and flavor.
It’s ultra-clean, offering a pristine drinking experience. The aroma is captivating, filling the air with enticing hop aromatics. As for the flavor, it is multi-dimensional and packs a punch.
North Park has once again delivered a stellar beer with the Homes Home. While their consistent quality is expected, this particular flavor profile offers an ultra-pleasant change of pace.
