Humboldt Seed: A Seed Worth Planting

Humboldt Seed (6.5% ABV) is double-dry hopped West Coast IPA from the folks at Humble Sea Brewery (Santa Cruz, CA).

The name (and can art) cleverly pays homage to Humboldt County, CA and it’s long-standing reputation for its cultivation of cannabis.

Using the name of the beer as our guiding light, we can all but assume there will be plenty of danky, herbal, weed-forward flavors and aromas.

Then you take a glance at the hop billing: CTZ, Hallertau Blanc, Mosaic, Simcoe, Nelson Sauvin, terpene. You can almost confirm that last statement without even popping the can.

Humboldt Seed Tasting Notes

It pours a super light, straw yellow, dare I say refreshing, hue.

On the nose, it’s punchy, bright, and earthy.

And, on the tongue….dankalicious.

Delicious layers of melon, grapefruit citrus, and danky white grape, with a slightly oily mouthfeel, and mild bitterness.

A beer so good, that they are already putting out a batch 2.

I don’t have much of a green thumb, but this is a seed worth planting.

Did you try this one? We’d love to hear about it. Let us know what you thought by dropping us a message.
