NZ-Fu!: Best Beer of 2022

December 27, 2022

When you try a few hundred different bears a year, there’s a lot riding on the statement “beer of the year.”

But, when it comes to NZ-Fu! (7.4% ABV, 37 IBU) from North Park Beer Company (San Diego, CA), it was indeed that…my beer of the year for 2022.

Triple-dry hopped deliciousness and superbly-balanced, NZ-Fu! showcases the best of Southern Hemisphere hops.

NZ-Fu!’s Loaded Hop Billing

The hop billing featured the likes of Freestyle Southern Cross, Nelson CGX, Mosaic Cryo, Freestyle Nelson Sauvin, Nectaron, Mosaic and Freestyle Peacharine.

In go the hops, and out comes a beer with a clear golden color, a delightful danky stone fruit aroma, with tropical and fruity notes of grapefruit, watermelon, and peach.

And it seems as I wasn’t the only one who enjoyed this beer in 2022.

Award Winning NZ-Fu!

NZ-Fu! took home a 2022 GABF gold medal in the appropriately named New Zealand style IPA category.

It was so good (and popular), in fact, that NPBC ran a second batch of it in October.

As the brewery description says “this is most assuredly the perfect beer to quench your thirst after a long adventure in the Outback.”

They could have stopped at “the perfect beer.”
