Stoney Logger: A Wondrous Collab

While the legendary lumberjack Stoney Logger selects “the finest trees for the world to consume,” Cellarmaker and Wondrous are out here sourcing the finest hops to make beer for the world to consume. And, I’m here for it.

Stoney Logger (5.5% ABV) from Cellarmaker Brewing Company (San Francisco, CA) and Wondrous Brewing Company (Emeryville, CA) features Nelson Sauvin (my fave!) and the yet-to-be-named HBC 586 from New Zealand’s Freestyle Farms.

Maybe it’s the breweries, maybe it’s the hops, maybe it’s both, but this lager is on another level. In fact, it’s probably the best lager my lips have ever touched.

Stoney Logger Tasting Notes

This bad boy features a fluffy, quickly dissipating head and the dankest lager nose imaginable.

And, on the tongue, the best of all worlds: hoppy, piney, and danky like an IPA, but with the low ABV, light, crispy/bready features of a lager, and resinous hoppy, tropical flavors of guava and grapefruit.

This isn’t a style you see a whole lot (although much more recently), but it’s definitely one you should check out.
