When it comes to craft beer (at least most styles), the mindset should be to consume your beers as soon as you can for maximum freshness.
Unfortunately, like most things in life, the best intentions don’t necessarily mean the desired outcome.
But that doesn’t always mean it’s a negative either.
Take this triple hazy IPA for example.
I had good intentions to drink this after I got it some months back.
Instead, the can got lost in the shuffle only to become one of those back-of-the-fridge finds.
Lucky for me, Triple Lily is no ordinary hazy.
This was a 10% ABV New England TIPA from Fidens Brewing (Albany, NY).
Now, I won’t front. This was canned March 24.
I’d be skeptical and nervous AF with a hazy reaching this age.
Let me say that my fears where put to rest almost instantly.
Triple Lily Tasting Notes
I have no idea how it smelled or tasted when fresh so I don’t know how age has affected this beer but I still got huge tropical and citrus notes.
Orange marmalade….heck even like an orange custard profile.
We’re talking sweet hop candy with whip cream all over, in a can.
Even still, this is not a bright beer.
It’s got deep fruit forward notes featuring candied pineapple and mango and some complimentary citrus grapefruit notes.
The haze is so thick it’s almost chewy with a creamy / pillowy mouth feel.
Decadent hop smoothie of a beer.
Overall
I was super impressed how well the beer held up on the nose and tongue.
At the end of the day, this is a delicious beer and one of my fave Fidens brews in recent memory.
Stellar honestly. The perfect night cap when in the mood for a big hazy.
Fidens continues to be #1 for me when it comes to the haze game.
